SCoopTV Episode: The USC 2021 Draft And Spring Camp Wrap Up Show

May 2, 2021

Spring camp is over.  And just in time, too, because the physicality that Clay promised was producing more dings and dents than the team could deal with after 15 practices of contact.

Had this year's Spring Showcase taken place at the end of camp instead of in the middle, there would not have been enough healthy bodies available to field a two-deep, let alone two teams. Instead, by the camp's last week, both coaches, Donte Williams and Keary Colbert, were defending and running routes to make up for the shortages in their respective units.

With spring over, the focus over the weekend turned to the NFL Draft and how well USC's players performed.  The results, depending on how you look at them, are a mixed bag.  If you haven't read Sunday's Takeaways, we recap each Trojan in the draft and explain why they were drafted when they were; and in the case of Olaijah Griffin and Tyler Vaughns, why they were not prepared.

Flipping back to the topic of spring camp, the subjects of player rotation, players who have emerged, and potential roster developments are discussed, not to mention some cryptic teasing on the next portal arrival that Scott Schrader has been talking about for a week now, and should become public on Monday.

The run game and Oline development are a hot topic, while the staff has emphasized getting both working as they should and the other side of the ball, filling in the gaps with younger players.

Finally, we look at next year's draft-eligible Trojans and how drastically different the numbers will look.
