USC Scoop's Spring Camp Report: Day-3 Full Pads With Clay Helton

April 3, 2021

Coach Helton got us started off this morning congratulating USC’s women’s soccer head coach, Keidane McAlpine on his 100th career win.

Once a week, head football coach Clay Helton meets with the media to update USC’s 2021 spring camp status.  Today the media joined Clay for his first 2021 spring media session.  After two days, there’s not a lot to report on; however, the energy level and excitement is something Helton is never in short supply.

On Saturday morning, before the team prepares to go full pads for the first time this spring, Clay told us what we should anticipate, including :

  • Robert Stiner’s off-season winter workouts influence.
  • New offensive line coach, Clay McGuire’s influence.
  • The freshmen quarterback’s learning curve.
  • The Texas running backs Keoantay Ingram and Brandon Campbell.
  • The growth of Casey Collier
  • Injury update on Nick Figueroa and health updates on the few who have been held out.

The team will be getting together later this morning and per, coach Helton, there will be approximately 50 live-action plays with tackling that the media in attendance will feel good about seeing when done watching.

USC Scoop will be present to observe all of the events as they unfold and offer our Notes & Observations later today.
