USC Scoop Spring Camp Report: Media Meets The Defense Spring Camp Day-2

April 1, 2021

One thing was clear while listening to Coach Todd Orlando Thursday morning.  He is looking forward to Saturday when the guys put on the pads and start tackling each other.  The team will be getting after it this afternoon. However, today's presser's overall theme was the staff seeing how physical the group can be and then start the objective evaluation process when the pads come on.  And the offensive side of the ball better be ready to go because the defense will be, based on T.O. and Kana'i being early and waiting for the media to get in on time for this morning's presser.

Some of the highlights include:

  • What to expect this spring.
  • Why Josh Jackson made the switch from offense to defense.
  • How important is this spring and maintaining and building a "culture."
  • The new S&C Program
  • Players who look different physically
  • Where do Solo, Katoa, and Iosefa fit into the scheme after being away from the action for so long?

Overall it was a fun interview, and I love that Coach thinks I was trying to go "back-alley" on him to get an answer to my question about which young players have caught the attention of Kana'i. --Coach T.O. has an aura about him that just oozes football, but he's also very introspective.

This afternoon the team will meet on Howard Jones Field.
