USC SCOOP'S Tuesday Thoughts

June 2, 2020

Mike Bohn dropped back, saw a hole and exploited the weakness.

An example was made.

A line in the sand was drawn.  USC’s AD took authoritative action acting swiftly, exiling a Trojan Family member.  The gold crescents were ripped from her shoulders and branded persona non grata.  Thank not come again.

Monday, AD Bohn, released the following statement with little ambiguity. MIke's comments

"Last night we were made aware of abhorrent and blatantly racist tweets from an individual who identified as a USC Football Booster. Following an immediate investigation into the matter, we informed the individual that their season ticket and Trojan Athletic Fund membership privileges have been revoked and the payment will be promptly returned. Their account has been flagged in our system to prevent future purchases," wrote Bohn. "Thank you to the USC community for helping us identify this individual so that we could move swiftly to terminate our relationship. We stand in solidarity with the Black community."

There are a couple of lessons to be learned here.  Number one, do not, and I cannot stress this enough...DO NOT use your twitter to vent frustrations.   And if you do find the need to vent, it’s probably not in your best interest to say protestors and looters "should be shot.”   Maybe it’s just me, however, the optics of a Los Angeles Police Union Attorney making those comments in light of today’s drama is about as stupid as a comment as one person could make.

What’s sad is there are some who are questioning the quick hook from USC and asking if there was due process.

Number two...we need football and professional sports back as quickly as possible, so our communities can have something positive to rally around.   With so much angst and anxiety, we could use another type of release for our emotional overload.

Nothing brings the country together quicker than sports.   It doesn’t matter if it’s The President of the USA thowing out the First Pitch or a local hero flippig the coin at midfield...after so much negativity and turmoil, sports and a sense of camaraderie could serve as a band-aid so the healing process can begin.  The healing process is about action and there are countless examples of the Trojan Family members walking the walk and coming’s another Trojan doing his part.

Speaking of coming together.

I think it’s safe to say USC’s 2021football recruiting class is coming together quite nicely and the class is starting to remind the fans of what a Trojan recruiting class should look like.

Following the recent verbal commitment from, Miller Moss, the quarterback’s pledge moves the Trojans up to the No. 4 overall ranked class in the country according to the 247 rankings.

Moss, chose his hometown Trojans over, LSU, Alabama, and UCLA.   With the addition of Moss, USC, now has two elite quarterback prospects in the class joining, Jake Garcia.  For those of you who were able to watch the episode when MIller joined SCOOPTV, you may recall how impressive this young man is, and the respect he has for tradition and what it means to wear the Cardinal and Gold.

When you love something you tend to give that little extra because it means so much more.

One last thought as we prepare for the second half the 2020 calendar year...The first half of this game has been a cavalcade of what the hell is going on, and can we please make some adjustments.

Once in a while a game changer is required to generate a spark in an attempt to get the fans excited again.   Well, USC, has a game changer who’s ready to get back into the game.   Here’s hoping someone can get on the headset and let the folks coordinating the game plan know that NOW is the right time to look to the skies.   Is there a lightening storm in the forecast?
