USC Football Recruiting

Trojans among Top Schools for 2022 Four Star RB

May 20, 2020

Jaydon Blue‍ recieved his offer from USC on March 27th this year and let the public know when he put out this tweet:

As of May 20th, the 5’11” 209 lb RB is up to 22 offers from many top tier schools around the country.

We first saw Blue in mid-January at the Dallas Pylon 7v7 Event. He didn't have an offer from USC at the time and therefore did not have much interest in the Trojans. Although only 7v7, there was no doubt Blue was a tremendously talented athlete. Since January, Blue’s gotten offers from nearly every elite program in the nation...and we're not surprised.

His recruitment since the Trojans offered has also picked up significantly and here’s what he had to say about his current recruitment....

Seth Cohen: You received your offer almost 2 months ago, what coaches have you been in contact with, and how have these discussions been?

Jaydon Blue: I’ve mostly been in contact with coach Jinks and we have pretty much discussed the kind of offense they run and how i will produce for them. We have also talked alot about how he could make me better as a person and not just a player.

SC: Last season, the Trojans offense could be considered to be pass happy. As a running back, how does this impact you? In other words, would you prefer a school that would be more reliant on the run?

JB: For me i really don’t have to rely on the run bc of my versatility I can catch the ball well and i can also play wideout do wherever I can produce at.

SC: Have you enjoyed your discussions with Coach Jinks, and do you think you could see him coaching you?

JB: Yessir, I can see him coaching me he seems like a very good dude and since he offered he has been in contact

SC: How often are you talking with Coach Jinks?

JB: Mostly every week.

SC: You do have some offers from schools closer to you like Texas, Baylor, SMU and more. How do you feel about the idea of potentially moving over 1,500 miles west to Los Angeles?

JB: I mean it’s whatever, im going to go to the place that’s best for me and somewhere i can trust and build with the coaches so if it comes down to me picking USC i wouldn’t have a problem with it

SC: Personally, do you know any guys who are at USC, went to USC, or are committed to USC? If so, have they tried to convince you on the Trojans?

JB: Two of my teammates that play 7 on 7 with me are committed to USC and one is a rb (Brandon Campbell) in the class of 2021 and he tries to convince me to come there all the time

SC: Is Quay Davis the other one?

JB: Yessir

SC: But he's not trying to convince you as much as Brandon?

JB: No sir, i haven’t talked to quay much lately but i always talk to Brandon Campbell

SC: Have you gotten the chance to talk with Graham Harrell or Clay Helton yet?

JB: No sir

SC: Is that something that you hope to do in the future?

JB: Yea I plan on talking to coach helton in the next few days

SC: How important is a good education to you? USC is towards the top academically among power 5 schools, so how does that impact you?

JB: Oh yea i meant to speak on that education is another factor in me picking a school bc im a 4.0 GPA student so when it comes to education im big on that bc its just not about sports but grades also

SC: Of course you don’t have to know yet, but do you have an idea of what you would like to study wherever you end up?

JB: Well I want to be an engineer so whatever I have to take for that

SC: Does being in Los Angeles add any interest to the Trojans?

JB: Yessir I haven’t been to los angeles so it would be fun to be out there.

SC: Even though everything is on hold now, do you have plans to visit USC once recruiting opens up again?

JB: Yessir

SC: Right now I believe you stand with 22 offers. What of those other 21 schools have stood out to you so far?

SC: Are those your top 6?

JB: Yessir

SC: What makes those top schools stand out from the other schools that have offered you?

JB: Those are the schools that I have been in contact with the most

SC: Do you participate in track or other sports at school to help you when it comes to football?

JB: Yessir I run track

SC: What events do you run in track?

JB: 100,4x1,4x2 and 200 sometimes

SC: USC has great history at RB. Marcus Allen, Charles White, OJ Simpson, Reggie Bush, Lendale White and more. How does this line of greats playing Running Back for the Trojans impact this decision and would you like to be one to continue the trend of greatness?

JB: To point out one of those im similar to reggie bush, i have speed acceleration, I can catch well and more so with me being alike in some way would be great if I can keep that going.
