USC Basketball

Monday Practice Notes & Observations: Men's Basketball (1/27)

January 27, 2020

The mens basketball team returned home from their weekend in Oregon with a split and it feels like an opportunity missed.  The Trojans literally gave the game in Eugene well as a chance to put some separation between themselves and the rest of the conference at top of the standings.  Hopefully it doesn’t end up like a missed extra point early in the game that comes back to haunt....or in USC’s case missed free throws.  Coach Enfield confirmed this after practice when discussing the games.  We will have a post practice video innterview up shortly.

Really somber on campus today.  I arrived to campus early just to get away from the same four walls which felt like they were closing in on me after the news of the tragic events on Sunday.   Not a lot of activity but I do see some Kobe jerseys and even more purple hair.

**Only  players available at the start of practice today with Ethan Anderson taking care of a school assignment and Isaiah Mobley attending to a personal family matter.

**The team seems to be pretty good spirits all things considered.

**Team knows they left one on the table against Oregon, however, they are really looking forward to playing Utah and Colorado at home this weekend.

**Ethan arrived late now they have enough to go 5 on 5

**Looking at the Trojans remaining schedule and it works in their favor down the stretch with 7 home games, and all of them will either be on ESPN or FS1...meaning only one will be televised on the PAC12 network.  This is  the perfect time to impress the voters and committee members who will be watching.

**No one will admit it publicly, however, the team recognizes the lack of respect from the pollsters...they plan to just keep winning and force the country to respect them.

After practice I caught up with Onyeka Okongwu and Ethan Anderson to get their feelings on Kobe as well as the team.
