St. John Bosco received Good Counsel of Maryland in the first game of Trinity League vs. USA Showcase on Friday the 13th. Fellow Trinity League foes Mater Dei  faced off at against St. Frances Academy (Maryland) and JSerra matched up against Milton (Georgia) on Saturday night at Bosco.

Bosco mustered a 31-8 victory over the visiting good Counsel Falcons. Bosco took a 14-0 lead at the half touchdown passes from Clemson bound QB DJ Uigalelei to receivers Jode McDuffie and Logan Loya‍.

The Bosco defense played a great game not letting Good Counsel get into rhythm. The Braves defense finally gave up a touchdown and 2-point conversion in the 4thquarter.  The Bosco defense had a strong performance led by USC commits Kobe Pepe‍, Ma'a Gaoteote‍  and Ohio State Commit Kourt Williams II‍

The trio was constantly around the ball all night making plays.  They never let Good Counsel QB get comfortable, forcing him to throw the ball away on multiple occasions. UCLA Commit Jake Newman gave the defense a boost by getting an interception in the first quarter for Bosco.

St John Bosco continus their National Schedule this week when they travel to Hawaii to play against Mililani.

After the game USC SCOOP caught up with Kobe Pepe, Beaux Collins‍  and Logan Loya.

USC SCOOP: How does it feel to play a team from the East Coast?

Pepe talks with USC coaches Chad Kauhaahaa, Johnny Nansen and the defensive players. Pepe had a great game and always seemed to be around the play, constantly putting pressure on the QB. Pepe’s goals for the rest of year before he enrolls early at USC are to better his technique and get his stats up.

Kobe Pepe: It felt good you know, a team from the Eastside. We letting them know the Westside is the best side.

USC SCOOP:How do you feel about USC right now?

Kobe Pepe: Awesome, you know what I mean? It’s the school to go to.

Beaux Collins is one of the top USC targets n the 2021 class. He is one DJ Uiagalelei’s biggest targets and is one of the top receivers in the country. As he stated in the interview he has USC in his top 3 and it would be shame to lose a talented player like Beaux Collins from USC’s own backyard. Beaux finished the game with 3 receptions and 121 yards on the night. He was held out of the end zone of having a 4-touchdown night the week before against Liberty (Nevada).

USC SCOOP: How’d you do tonight?

Beaux Collins: I did pretty well, dropped a couple passes

USC SCOOP: How does it feel to play a team from the East Coast?

Beaux Collins: Pretty big dudes, but to me they talk a lot of mess but West Coast is the best coast.

USC SCOOP: Were you at the game last week? How was it?

Beaux Collins: Yes it was a huge win for Kedon stepping in for JT Daniels.

USC SCOOP: Where does USC stand for you right now?

Beaux Collins: I would give them a top 3 right now on my list. USC they improved a lot from last year, from what I’ve seen. Coach Harrel there, coach KC with the receivers and stuff like is an explosive offense.

USC SCOOP: Anything else you want to say?

Beaux Collins: Trinity versus e world man, we’re winning it all, yes sir!

USC SCOOP: Which game are you looking forward to the rest of your season?

Beaux Collins: The Mater Dei game, yes sir that’s a big game.

Logan Loya transferred from Orange Lutheran this past spring after being one South Carolina freshman Quarterback Ryan Hilinski’s top targets the past few years. He was a teammate of USC Freshman Kyle Ford and Ethan Rae. Loya is a fast receiver that is fun to watch and can be a game changer for the Braves already potent Offense. Through the four games Loya has caught 16 passes for 277 yards and 1 score.

USC SCOOP: Logan How are you feeling tonight?

Logan Loya: You know good, we got the W and that always feels great but you know we were sloppy, we need to fix some stuff up.

USC SCOOP: How does it feel to play here at Bosco?

Logan Loya: Great! You know I love it since the day I stepped on this campus I love it.

USC SCOOP: How does it feel playing a team from the East coast?

Logan Loya: I love playing them because it’s always East Coast vs. the West Coast; they always think they’re better.

USC SCOOP: Were you at USC’s game last week?

Logan Loya: I was not, I watched it.

USC SCOOP: What do you think about USC and their game against Stanford?

Logan Loya: It looked like they were rolling? They are finally getting a hold of the offense; you know it’s the first year of the new offense.

USC SCOOP: What do you think about Graham Harrel and his Offense?

Logan Loya: I think they are getting the click of it, they’re figuring it out.

USCSCOOP: Anything else you want to say?

Logan Loya: Go Braves!
