The newly $315 million renovated United Airlines field at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is ready for some Trojan football. Thursday morning marked the official completion of the renovation project.

Upgraded stadium features include fresh seats with cup holders, handrails, anti-slip coating, new stadium-wide Wi-Fi and a seven-story Scholarship Club Tower located on the Coliseum’s south side.

The tower includes house suites, loge boxes, club seats, a new press box and - perhaps most impressively - a rooftop setup titled “1923 Club” that offers a 360-degree view of the Los Angeles basin. The club’s name pays homage to USC becoming a Coliseum tenant in 1923.

Outside of the tower, Trojan fans will be able to enjoy upgraded concession stands and watch games from around the country on more than 600 television screens found throughout the stadium.

New graphics and branding have also been installed throughout the stadium’s exterior and interior, commemorating legendary USC football players and moments.

“There will be something new and improved for every fan, enhancing everyone’s experience of coming to the Coliseum and cheering their Trojan football team,” USC athletic director Lynn Swann said. “We are delighted that the renovation was able to preserve the stadium’s historic integrity while at the same time creating a state-of-the-art facility.”

More than 2,600 union construction workers put in over 800,000 hours of labor to complete the renovation. Owners of small businesses affiliated with the project earned contracts worth over $40 million. Seating capacity in the Coliseum shrinks from 92,348 to 77,500 after the renovation, which USC privately funded.

USC opens the upgraded venue with its Football Fall Showcase, scheduled for 4 p.m. this Saturday, August 17. The showcase includes a scrimmage, team autograph session and recognition of three USC anniversary teams.

Trojan teams from 10, 25 and 50 years ago will be honored as part of the festivities. Tours will also be given of the Scholarship Club Tower and appearances of the Trojan Marching Band, Song Girls and Traveler are all scheduled.
