UC Davis, Nevada, San Jose St. added to future USC home Schedules

July 12, 2019

LOS ANGELES--USC has added non-conference home football games in the Coliseum against UC Davis in 2021, Nevada in 2023 and San Jose State in 2024.

The additions give the Trojans 7 home games in 2021 and 2023, as well as currently 6 home games in 2024 with a game left to schedule.  USC also has 7 home games in 2022.

USC will host UC Davis on Sept. 4, 2021, Nevada on Sept. 2, 2023 and San Jose State on Sept. 7, 2024.

UC Davis will be the Trojans’ first-ever FCS opponent.  The Aggies have won or shared 31 conference championships, including the 2018 Big Sky title when they advanced to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs.  USC had negotiated in recent years with a number of FBS schools to schedule a game on that open 2021 date but could not reach an agreement.

Troy is 5-0 all-time against Nevada of the Mountain West, with all the meetings occurring in the 1920s in the Coliseum (the last in 1929).  The 2023 Trojan-Wolf Pack matchup will mark the 100th anniversary of the teams’ 1923 meeting in the second-ever collegiate varsity football game played in the then-new Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

USC is 4-0 in its series with the Mountain West’s San Jose State, last battling the Spartans in 2009.  All 4 games were held in the Coliseum.

The Trojans play 3 non-conference games annually, including their long-standing yearly series against Notre Dame that currently runs through 2026. USC's previously announced other upcoming non-league games include BYU in 2019 (away), 2021 (home) and 2023 (home) and Alabama in 2020 at Arlington, Tex., plus home games versus Fresno State (2019, 2022, 2025), New Mexico (2020) and Rice (2022).

The 2 home games in USC’s upcoming 3-game series with BYU will be played in late November (Nov. 27, 2021and Nov. 25, 2023), allowing the Trojans to have a mid-season bye in those seasons.

USC also is in talks to add a neutral site non-conference game against a Power 5 opponent in 2024 and 2028, years that it currently has 6 home games scheduled.

Since 2000, Troy has had Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Auburn, Nebraska, Penn State, Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Kansas State, Syracuse, Boston College, Hawaii, Minnesota, Virginia, Fresno State, UNLV, Utah State, Western Michigan, Idaho and Arkansas State on its regular season non-conference slate, in addition to Notre Dame annually.
