Former Tennessee OT Drew Richmond announces transfer to USC

April 26, 2019

LOS ANGELES - After visiting multiple schools around the country, former Tennessee offensive tackle announced his decision to transfer to the Trojans early Friday afternoon. Richmond will now battle Austin Jackson, Jalen McKenzie, and others for playing time next season at tackle. He will also be pursuing a masters degree in social entrepreneurship on campus.

In high school, he was rated as the 56th best prospect in country, and the third-best offensive tackle in the class of 2015. Richmond started many games at tackle for the Volunteers over the past few seasons and will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer.

There were two important figures for USC in Richmond’s commitment: Joe DeForest and asssitant director of player personnel Trey Johnson. DeForest, who was also instrumental in recruiting multiple players in the class of 2019 like Briton Allen, Adonis Otey‍ & Dorian Hewett‍, has been a consistent presence in the recruiting picture for USC. Trey Johnson, who is a Tennessee alumnus, and actuallly worked in Tennessee’s recruiting department as a graduate assistant from 2015-2016, was also an integral part of Richmond’s recruitment.
